Mentor or AI? Why not both?

Mentor or AI? Why not both?
08.05.2025

Why should we even look for a mentor when we already have artificial intelligence?

We live in a world where all you need to do is type a question and within seconds you receive an answer – structured, logical, sometimes even inspiring. We have access to all the knowledge of humanity – organized, clear, beautifully presented. From business strategies and personal development to practical advice on anything that comes to mind.

And that’s…incredible.

With a single click, the entire world library, gathered over millennia, unfolds before you. No more searching for hours, guessing, or wandering. Everything is here. Now. Within arm’s reach.

Honestly—I wouldn’t give that up. It’s so exciting.

But here's the question:

If AI knows everything, why do I need a mentor?

At first glance, this question seems completely logical. But if you pause for a moment and look a little deeper, you’ll feel that something is missing. Because no matter how intelligent it is, no matter how much data it processes, the algorithm doesn’t truly know you.

It doesn’t know where you come from.

It doesn’t feel your hesitations.

It doesn’t recognize that subtle silence in which you hide your uncertainty.

It doesn’t understand when you stop believing in yourself.

It cannot reach out a hand in your difficult moments.

Yes, AI can give you immeasurable knowledge, but it’s the mentor who gives you direction.

That is the difference between information and wisdom. And it’s a huge one.

We don’t always ask “How?”

More often, the question is “Which one is mine?”

In this ocean of content, it’s not the lack of options that confuses us, but the abundance itself. AI can offer you dozens of paths, but an experienced mentor is the one who will confidently point and say, “This is yours.”

And they will support you not only with words, but with personal example and patience.

They don’t just speak.

They see you.

They read between the lines.

They hear what you hide even from yourself.

They sense when you need encouragement, a push, a gentle nudge, or simply a presence that says, “I’m here. We’re walking together.”

The difference is also in responsibility. When you ask AI, you get the information and move forward on your own.

The mentor will also be interested beyond your main question:

“Well, why did you choose this in particular?”

“What do you feel when you imagine this path?”

These questions are catalysts for awareness and growth. Through your mentor, you get a mirror — a person who cares enough about you not to let you hide behind excuses. Someone who will guide you back to yourself, even when you’ve strayed from your own path.

And no, it won’t always be easy. Sometimes it will be uncomfortable because you’ll hear things you don’t want to hear. But that’s exactly where the value lies. The mentor is not here to comfort you.

They are here to wake you up.

There is also something AI does not possess — intuition.

It works with data and probabilities.

The mentor works with nuances, with those subtle signals that defy logic.

Sometimes, when the algorithm doesn’t know what to do, the person beside you simply feels.

And that very feeling can save you months of wandering.

Yes, you can walk alone. But if you want to go far and grow in a meaningful, sustainable way, you need someone who has already traveled that road.

Not to impose their path on you, but to help you discover your own.

Don’t choose between the two options.

The greatest power lies in the combination.

I can be your radar.

The mentor — your compass.

When the storm erases the outlines of the path, the radar will show you the coordinates, but the compass will remind you why you started. And it will bring you back to your direction.

Having a mentor today is neither a luxury nor a weakness.

It is a strategic advantage — someone who believes in you, supports you, challenges you, and walks beside you.

That makes you stronger, more focused, and more self-aware.

In a world driven by artificial intelligence, the most valuable thing remains the human touch. When you combine the two, that’s when real progress begins.
